The fine detail that went into everyone one of these amazing works of art is breath taking. This was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit China this and The Great Wall. Out of the two I'd say for me this was the one that excited me the most. I have blogged already about The Great Wall so check it out if you haven't read it. (The Great Wall Of China)
The thing for me about the Terracotta Army is the fact until 1974 we had no idea it was even there, and although most of the warriors have been pieced back together due to damage they are original not remade not copied not changed in any way shape or form, apart from their weapons being taken away from them that is.
We again decided on booking a tour through our hostel to visit the warriors as the trip involved lunch and a few other places of interest in Xi'an. For around £30 each we were picked up taken where we needed to go with an english speaking tour guide and fed, not bad really for a full days exploring and site seeing. We were in a small ground of just 6 so it was not too bad at all. As you can imagine getting a picture of the warriors was made increasingly more difficult by the selfie stick wanker parade that seems to be everywhere you go in China.
I will be doing a separate blog on this but Chines people are so ignorant and rude it's untrue not one of the older generation I came into contact with had any manners what so ever. They would happily push and shove their way to where they wanted to go and had no regard for anyone else at all. Happily pushing their selfie sticks through people in front of them to take a picture instead of waiting like everybody else. It does make the whole experience of seeing anything in China a whole lot more stressful than it should be. I mean the warriors are not going anywhere you don't have a time limit in the pits so just wait your turn and be polite for god sake it's not hard.
Went off point a little bit there sorry, so back to the warriors the site consists of 3 pits that the public can enter Pit 1 has the most warriors to see the other 2 Pits have a few but in all fairness you'd not miss much of you only went into Pit 1, the most amazing thing about it all is that there is so much more that has not been excavated there is so much more below the ground and it makes you wonder how long it took for each one of the moulds to be made and each one of the warriors to be made and then painted, YES painted each warrior was painted but the paint does not react well to being exposed to light so it has all faded away.
It clear to me that things like these warriors, The Great Wall and many other wonders of the world are simply wonders because in an age where power tools and machinery didn't exist people were able to create wonders that still to this day are here for us to see and experience. Now for me this is all down to Aliens but thats for another time and another place.
Oh and one more thing, there has only ever been 1 person in the world that was not either part of the discovery or the excavation team that has been allowed into the pits to touch the warriors and guess what it's a bloody American!!! Bill Clinton just had to get closer Bill Clinton just has to do what nobody else is allowed to do!! Why is it always the Americans that think they can do as they please??
Any way check out the Terracotta Army if you can better still wait till an American wants to see it but doesn't want to pay for a visa into China so he has the whole site shipped over to the states that way you can see the wonder without the ignorant Chinese selfie stick wankers spoiling your day!!
